Description
The end-core brick and masonry structure was built in 1925 and underwent renovations in excess of $14 million under architects Moed de Armas & Shannon in 2001. Improvements include hi-tech video boards in the lobby walkway, state of the art security systems with automatic digital card scanner turnstiles and new steel and fitted glass elevator cabs. The Broadway entry features a three bay flush-glass storefront and limestone piers with aluminium canopies. In the main building lobby, the ceiling has been raised to 18 feet. The walls and flooring are Tassos white marble and the elevator core is a deep red Rosso Collemadia marble. The final touch on the lobby renovations is the recent addition of a 15 foot, Mariko Mori work of art.
