Developers are planning on building a new three-building mix-use retail and office complex in Charlotte, breaking ground in 2011.
Developer John Aciero and Vincent James are planning the five-acre long Sycamore at Gateway. The project will consist of 3 buildings, including six-, 12- and 20-story that would contain a total of 100,000 square feet of office space. The plan is also to include 12,000 square feet of retail space and 416 residential units, according to Bizjournals.com.
A large portion of the property is owned by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) who has landed a deal to own at least 25,000 square feet of that office space, as well as the associated parking areas.
Phase one will begin with the 20-story apartment complex, as well as the 6-story midrise that would place more apartments on top of the CMS office space. The final phase would feature condos above retail and office space in the 12-story building.
