Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank announced Monday that it will donate a portion of their Fountain Square office space to the local police department. Fifth Third agreed to cover the costs to reconstruct the unused space, including providing new carpeting, drywall and plumbing, according to the Cincinatti Business Journal.

The police department plans on using the 800 square feet of space as a new, more centrally located administrative office. Primarily, the location is perfectly coupled with the Cincinnati Police Center which is located just on the northwest corner of the square.

“Having a location in the center of our city provides a great convenience for our officers,” said Captain Theresa Theetge. “Although we already have officers on patrol on Fountain Square, administrative duties currently must be completed blocks away at District One headquarters.”

The terms of the lease have not been released.
